Sometimes as you work to get to the Fastlane you might wonder if you're really on the right track or not. This post is a "Jeff Foxy" one-liner approach to identify if you're a "Redneck" ahh hem (clears throat) "Slowlaner."

We all have some "Slowlaner" blood. This is not intended to poke fun at anyone but rather at the mindset created by our society.

You might just be a "Slowlaner" if: (or "Sidewalker)

... you've ever bought a "Get Rich Quick" book that didn't work.

... you've ever taken marketing notes from a professer who's never marketed.

... you've thought working for someone is secure.

... you love your job.

... freedom means your wife let you hang with the guys on Saturday.

... you can't wait for the new overdue vacation.

... you constantly stare at a clock.

... if you let fear control your actions.

... you've ever been excited about a 10% return.

... if you've invested large amounts of money into someone elses business and don't have your own.

... if you've ever thought this is too hard.

... if you've ever asked how long will it take to make $$$

... if you've ever said "Hey I thought of that!" (referring to some product or business)

... you happily work overtime for extra money.

... you think you're smarter than everyone else.

... when you fart you think it stinks. (ponder on that one; just don't inhale)

... you subscribe to make money magazines AND look for business ideas in the classified ads.

... you have a business that can run without you.

... you think newspapers are current.

... you've waited in line to get a deal.

... a piece of paper on your wall (by XYZ Univeristy) cost more than your net worth.

... you think the paper from XYZ University means you're smart.

... you look for short-cuts or fast wealth that requires little to no work.

... you think of customers as a headache.

... you think this world owes you something.

... you think karma will provide.

... you let family and friends talk you out of running a business.

... you subscribe to the Fastlane forum and don't take action. (ouch, Scott that hurt!)

Let's keep this thread rolling. You might be a "Slowlaner" if...

. . .if you can't go without a JOB because then you won't be covered by health insurance and then, well, "what if something happens"

. . .if you think that just because a person acts and looks wealthy that they are wealthy. (in Texas we call that "all hat, no cattle")

. . .if you think the reason you're so broke is because "the man" is underpaying you and you need a new job, another degree on the wall, or another professional certification

. . .if you think adding a part-time job to supplement your full-time income is the way to get ahead

. . .if you think coupon-clipping and scrimping every dime is the way to get out of debt and "be free!"

. . .if you get nervous when there's extra money sitting in your bank account and you feel better when you see it closer to $0 (perhaps that's more of general problem than slow lane, but it's a mindset of instant gratification none-the-less)

You may as well add "if you breath" to this list because frankly everyone has ticked off a good bit of your "redneck list" at some point in their lives..
Its up to each and every individual to change.. If someones on this forum then good on them! They have at least have some what of a entrepreneurial spark/spirit rather to sit and watch endless garbage TV. Iv only just started reading MJ's book and his early ventures into the world didn't seem as easy either.

Hope you don't think i'm taking personal offense but its just like a fat person at the gym. Yeah they have entered a world new to them but they where seeking change. With progress determination and hard work, that person wont be fat no more.

Hope you catch my drift, lol.

... you put all your hope into winning the next 500 million Power Ball.

... You buy a book about How to Win the lottery and read it. (Amazon shows 542 books for that topic!?)

... You believe that playing daily is the secret.

... The Lottery IS your financial plan.

LOL, well you didn't really leave anything out, now did ya?

I wish that were true! ... sad that this list probably has no end in sight.

...you spend all your time coming up with the perfect logo

I love that one!

If you rant and rave about how many exotic cars you have on GTA V but don't own one in real life.

... You spend 40% of your income on a car payment.

... You think a car is an asset.

... Your car is your most valuable asset.

Lol, these are perfect!

You still have stacks of newspapers from the Extreme Couponing craze.

... You subscribe to freebies2deals (types of sites) and spend hours to save $3.72.

... You get in front of me at the check out lane (with all your coupons) and later get a bill for my time.

... You argue with the checker about a price discrepancy worth less than $1

... You're willing to wait 10 mins to get the manager to check the price.

------

These are all great!

I thought this thread would get me some more laughs.

Like they say; you win some you lose some. Looks like this thread is bust.

Move on folks... nothing here to see.

...if you have multiple lawsuits pending and exclaim "when I win this one, I'm buying a new car!"

...if you envy your neighbor who never has to leave early for work because he's on "disability."

...if you pay one credit card with another credit card...every single month.

...if you can't wait to be "eligible" for a cell phone upgrade.

Jeez, I could go all day!!!!

I like these, though I admit to having had some of these thoughts before...

Like this one..
... You think a car is an asset.

I don't see how a car isn't an asset... now it is a asset that (usually) declines in value, and is a bad investment, but not all assets are good investments, are they?

@MJ DeMarco did a video similar to this a few years back. I can't find the link to it ATM but it was entertaining.

Yeah, I just found it on here a few days ago, and subsequently, his whole channel of videos. Great stuff.

When you make posts on Facebook about how every rich person should give you $100 so you can be rich too.

Or if you try to figure out how to get everyone in the world to give you a dollar (I was in high school).

....if you have the latest cell phone, wear $200 Nikes and $300 headphones but you are waiting for the bus........

....instead of saving for a car to eliminate your 1.5hr train and bus ride to work you'd rather spend money in South Beach clubs but then always want me to give you a ride home from work....
