I have come into a bit of good fortune I got 1,000 pieces of a product (Floor Tiles) at a liquidation sale for $1,000.

After doing some research I have realised that similar styles of tiles sell at 11-20$ by national tile retailers.

If I sold each tile at 5$ I would make $5,000 and the retailer would still be getting a 100% mark up.

How should I go about contacting these retailers and would they be interested in a deal of this kind?

If they ask should I say I am a private product broker ? , even though I have a corporate looking website, I do not have a registered company yet

I was thinking about just being direct and saying something along the lines of: We have these tiles for sale at this price and we noticed you are selling similar items at 10-20$ and we can sell you these at 5-6$.

How will I accept payment ? Will they hand me cash or write me a check to my personal bank account ?

(These are small retailers they are not huge big box retailers, all of them are probably sub $5mil in revenue.)

I'd contact as many retailers possible and let them know what you got. Chances are they won't care who you are as long as they're interested in buying the tiles.

If they ask, you could say that you bought them for yourself but didn't like them, and was unable to return them.

Just start calling retailers, it won't hurt.

Why not call a guy who installs tile? Or call 50 guys who install tile. Put an ad on Craigslist

@randomnumber314 See that's why I love this forum. Different ideas from different minds helping each other out to achieve our goals.

Yes, I think CL will be a goldmine for you - and contacting those who install tile. You can even try your local hardware/etc stores and have them put it on their shelf - you make a cut of the sale.
