if there was an adult version of StumbleUpon based on your fetishes would you use it?

Say a user can sign up, follow a setup wizard allowing them to input their favorite adult interests/fetishes, actors, and actresses names, and appearance characteristics, (I.E. ethnicity, hair color, etc.) into their profile and then stumble through sites matching their interests, would there be a demand?

Note: The wizard is just for getting started, users can continue to add to their collection throughout the browsing experience either entering details manually or clicking the heart icon as they stumble.

When logged in, the home screen would show user created groups based on like-minded interests. Inside the groups would be videos, photos, forums, etc. so when a user isn’t stumbling they can socialize inside the groups.

When Stumbling they can choose to stumble on Videos, Photos, Homemade, Articles, or All.

I foresee 3 ways to monetize this service:
1. Sign-Up income from adult affiliate programs (when a user decides to pay for a subscription on a site we get a cut of the profit.)
2. Targeted advertising revenue. (Of course only advertising sites we have affiliate deals worked out with will be allowed to be displayed).
3. Monthly fee for viewing amateur homemade submitted home videos (similar to Xtube). To have access to those while stumbling they must pay a monthly fee of a $1 - a percentage goes to the video maker.

Note: All adult sites, and home videos must go through approval process before going live."

Not a bad idea, might work. I wouldnt use it.

Very hard to monetize. Adult traffic is dirt cheap so you will require A LOT of users/visitors/impressions, especially if you want to limit your advertisers.

I wouldn't use it. Big free sites like Xvideo ... Redtube ... Pornhub ... etc. do an outstanding job, as far as delivering up (exactly) what you are looking for ... whatever that may be.

I don't envision a demand.

If you are going to go the porn route ... "if" there is money to be made, I think it is in satisfying very (very) narrow niches.

Master of one ... (tiny tiny niche).

My concept would not be competing with sites its main function would be to keep the user entertained by learning what they already like and generating new interests along their browsing experience,

After all there will be multiple social features and groups of like minded people communicating, sharing content, and telling friends,

On xTube, there are many users who don't change a cent and others charging much more than a $1 to watch their movies. Well I'm not here to profit off that Instead, I'd like offer them something greater... targeted traffic. The xtubbers will have the option to sign up for this program and be indexed in their proper fetish category. Meaning even those who don't charge for their tube vids will receive paychecks. (Seeing that in-order to add amatuer/homedies to your browsing stream you pay monthly.)

If I were interested in starting something in the adult arena I'd start an adult version of fiverr. Selling adult related items, reading off risque scripts, erotic art, whatever it is that you can think of that fiverr won't allow. Take a cut just like fiverr does. They have fiverr scripts all over for like 50-100 bucks. Off topic I know. Anyway, Goodluck

Thats a pretty cool idea really like it and it would be a lot more affordable to invest.

I don't have to go down the porn route,
I was just looking for an industry with relevance so I didn't spend money and time for something that would be worthless when I was done.

also,
I don't have to go down the porn route I just wanted to make sure I didn't spend time and money developing something useless if say a trend died.

No judgment. Some people around here are probably successful in that area.

I just don't see it ...

I don't need recommendations beyond those already provided by sites like Xvideos. I've never thought ... man ... I wish someone could figure this out for me because I'm lost.

As far as "group" discussion goes ... again ... I just don't see it. Who is going to join the "Hardcore Double Penetration Lovers" or "Extreme Teen Throat Destruction" forum ...?

Not me.

I just don't see it.

Back to the drawing board you should go.

I'd rather own a porn site than join one.

lol wait @jon.a NO!!! I wasn't saying I'd be the one selling!! I'd be the OWNER! I meant I'd be taking a cut from all of the sellers like fiverr does :hilarious:

I heard from my uncle's friend's older brother's cat that most porn users don't really go into a site thinking "I wonder what's new today?". You usually go in knowing, then get out after about 10 minutes (average time on a porn site based on research done by PornHub).

Let the market decide if they like it or not.
If they like it -> enjoy the fact that you created a valuable/entertaining/convenient/whatever service like you intended to.
If they dislike it -> adjust to match market needs. Or discard it altogether.

I'd say give it a whirl. Sounds like a good idea to me, since I already like "stumbleupon.com" and would love to see it in other areas.
Like showing me books that are similar to what I already like yet still different in a good way (huh... your service would provide something similar to books, but replaces the "k" with a "b", I guess ;P ).

Thanks for the kind words, so you think people would like it? I'm just scared to put in money that #1 I don't have. However if it works I could earn it back... maybe more

I once considered doing something like this, basically a porn site that lets you use multiple search filters - it ended up a massive pain after just a little investigation, as categorizing and tagging videos would be a nightmare.

It's a very hard industry to break into, way too many people with way too much money, some of the big players are already doing a great job out there.

I don't want to compete, I'd like to index and have it index based on fetish/interest. Most sites are already tagged. What other problems did u run into if you don't mind me asking.

Well my issue was keeping them on my site - you generally need a relationship with the providers to be grabbing their videos and embedding them. Hosting the videos is a nightmare in of itself, and I'd just plain avoid that of course (due to legal issues, and server problems).

But basically, the issue of losing them to the site you refer them to, and then they're just plain gone. Porn Sites work by guys jumping between videos and seeing plenty of different ads as they navigate around, if you only get one shot at them, you won't make any money.

Well, if I did it similar to stumble upon it would be an an iframe so they wouldn't loose money or ad revenue. Would that make a difference?

This is just a guess, but I would say most Porn Sites would have frame-buster scripts, I sure as hell would. That's just a theory though.
