For those with experience...My product prototype is finished and I am seeing a manufacturer tomorrow. I have a list of questions I plan to ask. Have I missed anything in your experience? Thanks everyone.

Cost of samples?

What are my payment terms and are they negotiable?

What circumstances would cause a price to change?

Are there volume discounts?

What is the total cost?

Do you have a reference list?

Do you have liability insurance?

What quality procedures are in place?

What happens if my materials don’t arrive?

What is your turnaround time?

What is your procedure for fixing errors?

You should also ask about minimal sample and minimal order quantities also.

Ask about shipping cost/speed. I'm assuming the manu is in the US, so this may not be as important as say China.

If it's hand sewn make sure to ask about quality guarantees from 1 seamstress to the next if you have volumes that can exceed 1 person. Rest if your questions look good, I'd also ask for average lead times to r added to the work queue if you aren't in constant production.

Perhaps a quality control / shipping station can be facilitated inhouse at your manufacturers premises ?. Do it yourself at the initial stage to set the targets for this critical process. It could be added at little or no cost to the manufacturer and would be a nice sweetener to the deal for you. Assuming the volumes increase, you can then negotiate this task inhouse. This in turn takes a lot of stress, headache away from you,and frees up YOUR time. Do it right and it won't cost you a cent. This would be truly fastlane economics all the way. It comes down to negotiation and delegation. Hope that helps a little and good luck with it.
