I have researched design patents for a products function and cant find anything. I found a company in London whos product does the same function mine does and it's apparently patented.
My question is can you sell a product that does a similar function as one in another country?
(Ive googled for an answer and cant find an answer)

Should I talk to an attorney on getting a provisional patent and abandoning it so its not patentable?

Thanks

Probably best to speak to a lawyer who specialises in patent law.

I could be wrong but the patent is only governed in the country it was filed in.

You should definitely consult your IP lawyer
