I definitely see what you are saying. But it depends on the context imo and also how you frame it. For fans like chicken hawk mentioned then yh, I agree. (But even then, if framed in the right way they may not have an issue with it). It's not something I have personally done but it does have...

    Meditation and the Fastlane

    HOT! MINDSET
Great thread and very timely for me! I've done some forms of meditation and breathing exercises on and off for the past few years. It's one of those habits, I've really missed. I used to do some breathing exercises that are popular in India from a guy called Ramdev (lots of stuff on youtube)...

Thanks. Don't like the guy, or some of the propaganda he's spreading for his own ego/gain. But there's tons of businesses lessons one can learn from this guy.....PR lessons too

Quality of course matters. Also the particular reader you're aiming for, and if the expectations of what they expect of the story are met (e.g. if you're book promises 10 ways to cure baldness and there is only 5 etc etc) There are different ways you can go about giving copies of your book...

I haven't been on the forum for a while, good to see you plugging away Co! I had a quick look at your book- there's a few things I would personally do differently in your strategy, but from the sounds of it you're in capable hands. Here's to a successful 2014!

    CRYPTO INVESTING HOT!
I checked the site out. I'm really tempted to buy 'one' bitcoin, and see how it develops (it would have been more, a month or two from now). And then try what you are doing something to what you might be doing Alty, just on a much smaller scale. Over how long a period are you thinking?

    Insane pricing or no?

    PUBLISHING
Ha...my head was all over the place. Yes, 35% for amazon, which actually makes selling 6 five thousand word stories at .99 about the same as selling one 30k story in terms of commission. Which makes it a much more compelling proposition. Well said. The beauty in your example, you *only* need to...

Wow, just seen this thread. Great stuff Alty, I definitely want to put a bit of $ into this (as you said, something I know I can lose). I'd be interested in this too. And also being in the UK, what non-US residents do...

    Insane pricing or no?

Good points by others here already. I think 5k would be the minimum to be honest. (but as others have said, we all have different experiences) Also, at .99 you only make 20%. x6 5k stories = 30k, if someone bought all of them, you make a dollar. x1 30k story at 2.99 makes you two dollars. That...

How Many Books Will You Publish in 2014?

I had a quick flick through of the kb thread and you certainly got some feedback! I can't remember where I read it, but I recall someone asking a famous author what 3 skills where he most important in this profession. 2 were writing related and the other was THICK skin! "I was feeling all...

Co, just makes sure to look after those tools, i.e. your hands/wrists...and also your shoulders/backwhile working. It's easy me saying that to you (something I can certainly improve on), but something to consider nevertheless

"MORE TIME =/= MORE WORDS My god did I learn this the hard way. The more time I squeezed into writing the more I felt like my writing was sloppy and terrible. It was almost as if my creative side was burnt out from the overload of the work I gave it. I'm going to figure out a way to make it...

Getting From Newbie Author To Freedom

"At first, I was writing for an hour+ per sitting. Sometimes I'd get five hundred words written and other times over one thousand. I think the reason behind the inconsistent numbers was procrastination i.e. I've got an hour to do this so I'll just sit here a while longer and think about writing...

Being able to write a book in a month, PART TIME, is pretty phenominal Co. I might have to interegate you at some point on how you are so proficient and what I can maybe learn. You're making me a little jealous, but I applaud in admiration :eusa_clap: I know that book, and watched a few...

    What do you type on?

    PUBLISHING
SO question is, what type of keyboard do you type on? I've put this in the writing section, but it can apply to anyone who types a lot, copywriters, authors and coders too. I recently bought a mechanical keyboard, and I can't believe the difference! I got an entry level model (still around...

I actually think you have a point. I wonder if it's worth if those pursuing this posting in either the highspeed section or all join the insiders and have a section to post in there. Having a private section was mooted when this subcategory was created, and I can definitely see the advantages...

It's funny what can motivate us. There is another thread I saw recently where the OP talks about lessons he gained in the 1st few days of owning an exotic car.
