@AllenCrawley – “What will your first steps be?”
@biophase said : “Starting a progress thread where the first step is learning is not really a progress thread. That is the stuff that you need to do before you even start
Just go on Alibaba (or even AliExpress) and buy 50 pieces or so of a cheap mainstream item you know will sell. Then put that item on Amazon with FBA. Your goal isnt to make money on this (in fact you will lose money), but to actually go through the process instead of reading about it. You can do this TODAY. Let us know once you ordered.”
I did that and it was awesome experience, experience of the process is crucial.
I squeezed every detailed information from threads that are golden
I especially recommend :
1. Sharing my lifetime experience in export/import. Product sourcing specialist.
https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...ort-import-product-sourcing-specialist.55062/
If You want more knowledge about sourcing products buy @Walter Hay book.
2. Ask me anything about eCommerce (2015+)
https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/threads/ask-me-anything-about-ecommerce-2015.62360/
a great source of information
3. The Building of a Brand and a Product Centered Business
https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...duct-centered-business-progress-thread.53204/
it is worthwhile buying subscriptions in order to read the whole process which he went through @AllenCrawley
I divided the process into 3 stages, if anyone is interested in going through the process :
· First of all – how to get in touch and find manufacture :
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1In7m0QzBYuufcjJgJfuBMQrTS1QelrSZIlXRCq6TpZk/edit
A summary of key information about alibaba / dhgate / aliexpres.
At this point I would like to wholeheartedly thank you kindly @Walter Hay for all shared informations.
· Second of all - how to research a product
For example couple of my ideas for products, please forgive me there might be some links with Polish websites.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12866JrcWVp0ZmgNBGPKLh3HPMe3MSfihrVOAkHK1FlQ/pubhtml
· Third - Buy it and try to sell
Finally I have one product, today for the first time without any effort i received notifications of the first sale - I understand now, how simple can it be.
Final Thoughts
1. For me it’s better to working on 2 monitors, cause i can compare prices on amazon / ebay with bulk prices from dhgate / alibaba / aliexpress all the time – it’s just faster.
2. For the most products still dhgate have better pricing that other because of free shipping – at least for the start, when u want only to try quality and make an test order.
3. Just do it – dont be scare about first investment it’s for learning how everythings work – payments, shippings, other costs.
4. This was my first Progress Thread and little history about myself (SaaS) and another fail, but I know that it was just great, valuable lesson for me.
I’m glad that I can share my thoughts about new venture. :

ACTION COUNTS NOT WORDS
Actually going through the process instead of reading about it – this is my number one rule, as @biophase said.
I’m after reading multiple topics about branding, e-commerce, importing and first of all i want to thanks @Walter Hay, @biophase, @AllenCrawley, @ChrisKyle and others for very valuable informations and threads that are for me just golden.
October - December
· I’m now searching for first product to manufacture
· Then i will do industry research and competitor reserach
· Determine a list of books to read, and the priorities which will be the first one (on the weekends)
I’m tryning to find something like @AllenCrawley said :
“A couple years ago, I was reading in a niche forum and noticed a number of posts from people complaining about a particular product and how it had changed over the years and how they longed for the experience they had prior to the changes. I made a mental note about how that could be an opportunity but never dug that up until about a year ago.”
If someone is complaining about products in his home, i’m ready to take a notes.
