Lets say I wanted to start a site/company similar to: menwith.co whereby they show pictures of well dressed men and then show you were you can buy similar clothing at a good price (affiliate links).

What are the laws for using random images of models etc on your site and social media and how would they be doing this? Would this be there own models/images or others?

No you can't use images found online. It's called copyright infringement. If you're an affiliate, ask the companies for images. Many clothing companies have a backend site you can log into for access to model shots wearing the actual products.

Apart from this, there are number of websites that share images for free.
You can get connected to a photograher who specializes in your business line, and request him for copy rights - or buy it from him.

It sounds like you have some very specific images you're wanting to use. It's always best to err on the side of someone is gonna sue the shit out of me and request permission or get something in writing regarding copyright. Because you'd be using images to benefit these business' sales, they'd probably be happy to supply you with images they own on the regular. Other publications might not be so excited to hand over their editorial images. Ask, get stuff in writing or utilize image sites if they have what you're looking for.

My husband made a blog post last year about the best free stock photo sources. Allthefreestock.com collects almost all of the ones he listed.
