I'm F*cked guys. But let me help you.

I didn't start this thread to complain. I'm offering you my skills and my time, free of charge.

I'm 18 years old, about to turn 19. I'm not gonna dive into my toxic relationship with my emotionally abusive parents, but rest assured I am getting my a$$ thrown out the day I'm of legal age (in about a month).

I've got a ton of skills that I've acquired of the years; graphic design, Wordpress, SEO, PPC, copywriting (recently discovered my love for copywriting), video & photo editing, and more. I'm a very creative person, have a deep appreciation for all art forms. Been doing music production on the side for about 5 years as well.

I lurk here everyday, so the last thing I wanna do is waste your time by making you read a complain letter.

What I'm offering you is all of my skills, free of charge. Looking for help of any kind? I will be right here.

I guess I'm in a way looking for a mentor of sorts, somebody who can give me a set of tasks to accomplish so I can get my feet wet. Again, not asking for any compensation, just the opportunity to be part of something real.

Hope you can understand my position. I know this forum takes no bullshit. I might be F*cked financially as soon as I'm 19, but I will always have my skills to offer to this forum.

Thank you.

If you're F*cked you don't need to help anybody but yourself. The fact that you can't financially support yourself will repel any serious mentor and will put strain on the relationship. If you have all these skills it shouldn't be a problem to get some paid projects on Elance etc. or something else to pay the bills. Get one or more jobs if you have to.

Seriously? F*ck working for free. And F*ck mentors who would let you starve.

Sign up for Fiverr and Upwork.
Use Fiverr to get easy gigs where people find you and read this thread if you haven't already for Upwork.

Now, my advice is choose one thing. Copywriting, or graphic design, or something.
Don't waste time in research what's "better" - the world is full of any kind of worker.

Choose the one you can excel the most - then work on it until you are at the very top.

Do this and I can guarantee you you will make decent money in a month. Personal experience.

Let me know what you do, and I'll throw work your way as soon as I need that kind of services.

Pick a skill and develop it to a world class level. Best way to start earning money is to specialise. Start even on Fiverr and just get money from there doing small jobs building clientele. If you have actual skills and fail to market them, then learn marketing.

If you're online, you may get swayed by various shiny objects, and there are no guarantees that you will earn anything online - most don't earn anything. Online mentors have this knack of disappearing with your money. I have yet to hear of good free mentors online. There may be a few good paid mentors but they charge a couple thousand dollars upwards.

Why only online...go offline and get a real day job. You will get a part time job at least if you are smart enough.

Besides you will be out of the house with a day job without having to move your a$$ out. Believe me you need your parents' house to live in if you're broke and want to start somewhere. Even the worst parents feel happy when their son gets a job, even though they might not always admit it.

Not being negative at all, just giving some good free advice.

With those skills it sounds like you are blessed. You are also getting the gift of living on your own (not coddled until you are 40).

Take those blessings and gifts and get going. I am excited for you!

You're right, thanks for the reply. I need to focus on my finances first, and then look for someone to help me grow.

Thank you for that. Honestly. I'm going to take your advice immediately and I will contact you as soon as I'm able to create truly great work.

I may have something for you. Are you from the US?
I live in Canada (near the U.S. border). Can I send you a PM?

I might need a content writer soon, but I would pay you from the get-go. PM me if you're interested.
Thank you for the reply! I am PMing you right away.

Thank you! I had some experience with Fiverr by making ebook covers, made about $50 bucks over a week period in 2014, but it began to take up a ridiculous amount of time. I should've persevered and created bonuses/extras. I'm gonna try again.

Hey Sean, I appreciate the advice. I'm looking for work every day now. And you're right, they will be happy. But my mental well-being is suffering from the relationship. I have to live on my own or with roommates.

With those skills it sounds like you are blessed. You are also getting the gift of living on your own (not coddled until you are 40).

I appreciate the positivity! Thank you.

Yeah, it can be burnout and book covers might be too big of a creation but you got some experience now so you can either do covers for a living and start charging $100 or do other stuff.

PM me some samples you did.

You should escalate something like that. When you have some good reviews, raise the price (ask buyers to contact you before ordering).
After that, it's a matter of great communication. I had several clients tell me they choose my services paying more because I sounded like "a cool guy". I never have shortage of work on any platform I am on.

Go ahead and try again. You will gain an invaluable amount of experience doing anything.
I had no idea of the importance good communication really has.

Nice skillset. There's plenty of value you can add. Now to get someone to pay you for adding that value. :)
