A few years ago I was involved in MLM and another network marketer decided to attack me personally over a internet forum about the marketing tactic I used.

So now when my name is googled these 3 articles appear near the top of the search engine. I have tried to contact the admin of the websites to have the forum posts deleted but I received no reply. Is there a way I can ask google to remove these articles and my name from the search engine?

Another alternative idea is I could use an altered version of my last name before publishing my book. So when someone tries to google me they won't find any negativity on me. I have never been convicted of fraud or anything but due to those negative google searches I fear this may impact my potential sales.

Anyone have any thoughts to deal with this?

If you're from EU you can have search results related to your name removed:: http://www.google.com/transparencyreport/removals/europeprivacy/faq/?hl=en

If you're from elsewhere you're most likely out of luck

I am in Australia.. I am not out of luck as I do recall a business which specialised in fixing negative reputations on google! :)
though living in the EU would have been easier...

Just use a pen name. However, just for your own sake, you should probably get the negative stuff about you off of the front page. Outrank them yourself with enough sites to push the negative results down a few pages (though the difficulty of this depends on how strong the current pages are). I would be very hesitant to trust any rep management companies, even more so than a typical seo company.

Splok is right, All you have to do is to use a pen name, no need to use your real name.
And you basically need to outrank those pages, get a bunch of articles about your real name as the keyword and post them yourself on a free website like weebly, wordpress,
Hubpages, etc.

Just use a pen name.

I think this is what I've been doing, but as someone said the other day, "What are you hiding? Why should I trust you if you don't use your real name?"
My reason is I don't need people in my drive way.

Like the author scenario: Some woman tracked down one of her reviewers and went to her house.
While you may have fans that love you, you will always have the haters.

And personally, with a google map, and I.P. anyone knows right where you are. It's kind of ridiculous. Although, locally, my name was breached because the newspaper verified who I was as a writer and pen name.

If you are the victim of negative links that have the potential to significantly harm your online reputation then removing a negative information on Google can be extremely frustrating, it is by no means impossible. The only solution left is that push down negative information from search results.Google will not remove this link as you have to follow best approach to provide Google with a web content that shows your reputation in a positive way. Here are few basic points recommend by ORM experts to push down negative links.
1. You can create relevant blogs and update them on regular basis.
2. List your business on high authority domain websites .
3. Create strong business profiles on websites like cruchbase, vator and lot more.
4. Grow your social media network
If you know the right way then you can continue otherwise consult with ORM experts. For any query feel free to ask.

A very easy way to outrank those negative pages is by posting videos to youtube with your name as the keyword. Those go up in google searches pretty fast.

And videos are much more powerfull.
