TLDR:
Check this out http://yourls.org

</TLDR>
Hey folks,
I told myself I wouldn't start another thread until I had something of value to contribute. I thought I would post up a link to YOURLS. They're an open source link-shortening service that you can host yourself. Essentially you can run your own bit.ly if you wanted.

I've been using it to track clicks, when I don't have access to Google Analytics. So for example, if I post an article talking about someone's blog. I can use my link shortener to track whether the link is clicked or not.

It also tracks time of click and traffic source for you. Great if you're posting this stuff through social media or just want more knowledge of your audience.

Anyway, I just thought I would mention it as I haven't seen it on here yet.

Have a good one!

Glad you liked it. I thought I might share this too, as it's somewhat related:
https://github.com/Stevie-Ray/htaccess-referral-spam-blacklist-block/blob/master/.htaccess

Basically, in Google Analytics I'm getting fake traffic from a bunch of websites. I set filters in GA, but would rather just block the traffic in the first place. The link above is a list you can add to your .htaccess file to stop these guys from linking to you. Should help clean up your GA and prevent false positives.

EDIT: they need to add humanorightswatch . org to the list. Add the following to the file:
Code:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http(s)?://(www\.)?humanorightswatch\.org.*$ [NC,OR]

SetEnvIfNoCase Referer humanorightswatch.org spambot=yes
