Finished that Sam Walton book,& it was a pretty good read.
I'm onto Grinding It Out : The Making of McDonalds by Ray Kroc.
After that I'm reading a book about Jeff Bezos.

I'm trying to crack into the heads of these great entrepreneurs right now.

Just finished Letters From a Self-Made Merchant to His Son

Discussed here: https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...s-from-a-self-made-merchant-to-his-son.57703/

"A classic book that was published in the early 1900's but was written, initially, as a series of private letters from a self made merchant father, to his son. The principles herein are as sound today as they were in the late 1880's. Thoughts on business and life from a man who made a fortune in the pork packing industry in the late 1800's."

I was given a couple of books for Christmas, just started the first one "Nothing to loose, Everything to gain" by Ryan Blair, good so far. The second book is "make your brain work" by Amy Brann. Have four flights to do next week so will see if I can get both read.

Not business related but I can recommend fitness confidential by Vinnie Tortorich as a healthy body and mind are I think essential to success.

I've noticed a lot of people mention reading multiple books at the same time, why do you do that?

Wondered the same. Did this for a really long time myself. Found out that it didn't get me anywhere. Had 40 books on my iPad - every single one started, not a single one finished.

Now I have a policy. No new book until the current one is finished. End of story. I read a lot more now.

Currently reading "Ready, Fire, Aim."

Getting recertified for personal training by taking on another certification as a specialist in fitness nutrition. So the book is "Specialist in Fitness Nutrition"
Also reading Michael Gerber's "The E Myth revisited" - It's okay, has good ratings, but i feel like there's a lot of fluff in it. He could easily turn the 300 pages into 80 pages..
finally, "Trading in the Zone" as i begin to learn how to day trade futures

I've experimented with reading 1, 2, 3 (personal study) books at a time. I reverted back to reading just 1 at a time, but I might try the other way again.

Boredom is probably the answer to your question though, hahaha. I'll have to actually see which way is more effective for me with finishing books.

P.S. I'm about to read The E-Myth Revisited -- thank you again!

For me it's about not losing interest in a current book and rushing (or not even finishing) to move on to the next book. I used to strictly read one book at a time because I thought it would get confusing. Turns out it's really easy as long as there aren't many overlaps in subject matter. I read (and finish) a lot more. It's all just personal preference. Whatever works best for you.

Right now I'm reading:

The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco (again)
The Luxury Strategy by Jean-Noel Kapferer and Vincent Bastien

For me it usually starts with picking up an audio book or two where I'll have one at home and one in my jeep. Nowadays I don't listen to music (or watch tv) and I look at audio books as entertainment, if that makes sense? I generally listen to each disk multiple times too for a couple of different reasons, but that doesn't really matter, unless it's something you care to know .

But then when I hear recommendations from people who have built themselves up to a high level of respect and they're people I would like to learn from, many times they will mention books that they feel are very important, and even if I have the others I am going through, I will still take a look.

As an example, a few weeks ago someone highly reputable recommended The One Minute Manager to someone who was just getting started with managing people. I quickly found it and realized it was a quick and easy read. 60 some pages I think. And I'm glad I did because it was right to the point and was something that I read from my cellphone while sitting having coffee.

I don't finish all books but I have worked myself into finishing most books as it's kind of like a discipline thing/mindset that I think I developed from when I would push myself with activities like working out. The books I don't finish though are the ones that are just too boring or I'm just not smart enough to make the right connection.

I finished How To Get Rich by Felix Dennis. Good book and would recommend it, but it's not entirely what I expected.

I recently went to the library and picked up The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I used to follow his blog regularly. And I picked up the Steve Jobs audiobook, which was written by Walter Isaacson. I'm trying to get more into biographies so it's nice to have it to listen to when I'm driving.

The $100 Startup talks about small business. Most of them never become a Fastlane. Sounds inspiring, but no deep insight.

I would recommend the app Swift for speed-listening. It costs $4 in the app store and can really save you some time. You can listen to it at ANY speed up to 3x (2.25x works like a charm when the reader has a slow voice), and you can also bookmark and make notes in the app.

I have been reading Think and Grow Rich for about 3 weeks and I am just over half way.
With Swift I have now finished The One Thing (great) and Virtual Freedom (good) in three days.

I'm now reading "Toxic Parents" by Susan Forward, after a recommendation made on this thread. I'm only on page 70 and it's absolutely fantastic! I've always been pretty good at analyzing myself, but this book has actually helped me realize things I didn't know. It's already helped me understand the reasons why I do certain things; things that I've been trying to change all my life.

This morning I read;

30 minutes in "The Thank You Economy"

30 minutes in "Crush It"

and 30 minutes in "Jab Jab Right Hook"

all by Gary Vaynerchuck. I'm on a social media kick at the moment...

6 Months to 6 Figures by Peter Voogd. Nice compilation of cliff notes from other 5 star reads (Millionaire Fastlane , Miracle Morning, etc.) Before I made the connection that he was from this forum/on this forum I said this guy has to have been influenced by MJ DeMarco. I could just tell right away. And then I saw it... He quoted MJ in the book.

Overall, I liked the part about your mental, physical and emotional energy the best. I felt it was a lot of other authors thoughts concisely (re)packaged and reiterated with a nice bow for a new (younger) reader.

No shade though Peter. Cheers to your success and I def think your book can help a younger, aspiring entrepreneur most, and I believe thats who your book is targeted to, so good job!

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini

I'm more than half way through this book.

It's interesting to see how people make decisions and how you can present things in different ways to get different outcomes.

I've been thinking about reading "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion"; Does it contain useful information or is it just bluff?

I finished Influence last week.

It's worth the read for sure. There's a lot of research that he goes in depth with, but in the end you'll see with things from a different perspective. I wouldn't consider it "bluff." He goes into heavy detail about each concept to help you understand why people do what they do. The entire book is full of useful information.

Coming from a sales background, I wish I read this years ago.

I just finished Think and Grow Rich and Rework. Both great books that I highly recommend (as many others on this forum).

Now I am reading Nick Unsworth's Facebook Marketing book that I got for free when it was published, as well as the classic How to Win Friends & Influence People that is looking good so far!

I kept seeing Ready, Fire, Aim as a recommendation here, but unfortunately...

It wasn't / isn't available for purchase on Kindle!

So I decided to go the Audible free trial route. It comes with two credits for two free audio books.

I got two books for free on Audible...

Ready, Fire, Aim

and

The ONE Thing

I'll be listening to them whenever I'm feeling too drained to do anything else.
