dude, I'm in the same boat, I'm working in the back of a mom and pop pizzeria that pays me minimum wage,

I am not in school, I make 230 Dollars a week. I work 35-40 hours a week.

I want to quit so bad but I can't because I'll be broke. More broke than I already am. I have 200 dollars to my name. The owner just asked me to run the entire shop and make the pizzas but I dont want to be there from 9 am to 9pm every day, for 10 Dollars an hour.

Stick it out man, stay with your job and keep building up your business. Soon enough this will be a bad dream.

(Thats what I tell myself.)

Great thread advice so far! Yeah it's tough to be in that kind of situation WITHOUT A PLAN... but what I'd give to be 23 and learning on this forum. Keep up the great work!

Track down the customer value optimization sales funnel from ryan deiss (it's floating around the forum) and figure out how you can build your already solid network into that plan.

Track your spending religiously... where is your money going every month? Do you have a $100 cell phone plan because you had to have an iphone? Is your car payment over or under $500? Spending $200 every Saturday night on drinks at the bar? Cut that stuff out and put it into a savings plan. This will be important when you finally quit... have a little set aside (I'd recommend 6 months 2000x6=$12000 at your current spending if you're deadly serious about doing your own thing).

How do you spend your time without your child? Do you sleep in, play video games, walk around the mall, or do you wake up at 5am, go for a jog and get to working on your own thing?

Here's an idea for passive income... write a book about "what you need to do to quit BEFORE you quit", track what works for you and it could be gold for others. Would something like that work into your personal development blog?

Work on getting yourself in a positive mind state. You need to live in reality not fantasy land. See things for what they are.

I'd work on cutting down those expenses.

I make $23 an hour and I have only $900 a month in bills.

I couldn't imagine having 2k worth.

Ditch the car payment.

I have $700 in bills and it's really nothing compared to alot of people, but I can't imagine having $2,000 either.

That's nervewracking just to think about. lol.

Holy God, no...don't quit. If you are going to quit, I'd cut down expenses massively. I moved with gf for her job and haven't even searched for job yet, but I've been drastically trying to cut expenses and utilize my time more wisely. Plus, I'm trying to bring in little nuggets from poker to survive. With a son, I definitely wouldn't quit. You seem to have a decent deal on your plate, so I'd just keep at it...at least until school is finished since so close.

I used to have $2k/mo expenses when I owned a sweet ride. That is a hella lot of money. Dont' be using financial aid to cover your roof, either. That's how I afforded nice cars in college too. Now, I hate myself for not learning/knowing more about money back then. Like the others have said, I can get mine under 1k/month for sure, and that still freaks me out. However, you gotta play offense and not defense all the time (quote from MJ maybe?)....no point in reducing your expenses and skimping lattes if you aren't going to work on growing your income. Then, you just live a life of frugality that probably sucks (not saying ppl who live simply aren't happy--it's when you constantly want more and can't do any because you are coupon clipping all the time).

I agree with this.

I would say for his particular situation, if he has a hustling/bootstrapping plan and a business plan in place and is DEAD SET on quitting because he's 100% sure he can execute, I would think you'd want to cut your expenses well under $1000/mo, and have at LEAST $10k-$15k saved up as a running cushion.

But that's just my opinion, ultimately it is your situation and your decisions that will affect the outcome, however you want to direct things.

Learn how to hustle real good to support yourself and start working IMMEDIATELY on your fastlane.

Do it!

I was in your same shoes two weeks
when I decided to finally quit my full time job

It's funny what happens when you either make it
or you starve to death (I like to exaggerate things to fire me up)

  • Thing #1) You Stop F***ing Around
  • Thing #2) You Stop Being A P***y
  • Thing #3) You Stop "Guessing"

1. Self explanatory, you stop putting things off
and keep going when even when you feel like quitting

2. It doesn't matter if something makes you nervous or
not because you have no other choice

3. You stop throwing shit at the wall and see if it works,
you start checking resources & start doing things
YOU KNOW work because it's been tested by people
before you.

Need to make money asap?

A business includes three things

1. Product
2. Marketing
3. Deliver System

Thats it...
so is your product kick a$$?
Are you selling it the best you can?
Do you have the most cost effective system
in place to deliver it to people who want it?

We only have time or money...since you don't have
time...you're gonna have to use money

Buy traffic on Facebook* and laser target
the people you want to sell to and make
SURE your sales funnel is all put together

If you target right and have a funnel in
place you should be able to make enough
to cover the advertising with the front sale offer
and sell them thru email marketing or with an
upsell as soon as they purchase the front end
product.

*Facebook is the cheapest best traffic
you can find right now, you can even optimize
for conversion, that means if your products $50
you can tell Facebook you don't want to pay more
than $49 for every paid customer and Facebook
will work hard to make it happen since it knows
a happy advertisement customer keeps reordering
and that equals higher stock price for them

That's fine to risk yourself starving to death, but not your 6 year old son. Thankfully he decided not to quit.
