Advice on finding and selecting photographs for using in a company website?

Hi,

We are about to start designing our company website and are needing free, or low-cost, high quality
photographs for use in our site.

Does anybody have any advice on finding, and selecting, free or low-cost photographs online?

All ideas and advice would be much appreciated.

Just use Google Images with some search terms relevant to your business. If it links to a stock photo site, check it out and see if it's worth the price.

Dont get cheap quality photos, it will hurt your conversions.
Also, dont take the same stock photos everybody else uses, it will hurt your conversions.

If you are a service provider, consultant, etc, get high quality photos done yourself.
If you sell your own product, get high quality product photos done.
If you sell a service / digital product, buy high quality stock photos that you havent seen anywhere else.

I prefer iStockphoto myself.

This is what I use for free stocks

If looking for free stuff, you still need to be careful. Creative Commons has to include commercial use, so leave that box ticked... And you still may have to credit the photographer.

Depending on what you need, I also like Pixabay.com . They have high quality photos of general things - I found lots of very nice architecture photos, patterns and that sort of thing there. And it's all public domain, so no copyright at all.
