Interesting thread thanks for sharing. I noticed that you misspelled "door jambs" on your website :) , good luck!

I would think it will be MUCH MUCH harder to find the talent needed to do detailing work, personally I found a guide to detail my exact car http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/2006-acura-tl-in-nighthawk-black-pearl-part-1/ and spent $800 on supplies and after carefully reading and rereading and some 20 hours of labor the results were far from satisfactory. It would be hard to trust anyone to not cover my car in swirls, now that I've learned even a microfiber cloth can cause serious damage if not sufficiently lubricated or if it gets contaminated even by dust. As such, I wonder if your hiring strategy is going to have to change drastically with this pivot?

Finally, question for everyone else, if valeting meanings 'car detailing' overseas, how do you say actual valet parking over there? Same word?

Its called that over here also it sounds more like valay than valet which means cleaning/detailing. Its very uncommon to have this service only a few hotels I know of in Glasgow and surrounding areas and tbh they are clueless me and my friend where at a wedding reception for the night he asked for his car to be brought round after it ended and the hopeless valet couldnt even stick his Ferrari 430 into reverse to bring it round lol.

Update:

I have been gone for awhile. I went to my college orientation which took a couple days and i just didnt find time to write an update. Now, i have changed the domain to beachdetailing.com . I still need to update the logo. I have added pricing comparison tables and changed emails. I now want to add a page "before/after" so i can show the potential customers the difference detailing makes for their car.

There has been some problems when i switched over URLs but i am sorting them out now.

I have also converted the old twitter account (@beach_detailing) . It has over 90 followers and i have converted my old instagram account with 1500 followers to Beach Detailing (@beach_detailing). I will start to get more local followers soon.

I now need to update the booking form and fix my homepage!

Absolutely, what kind of colors would you like on it? Any kind of symbols or icons you'd like too? I can't promise you it'll be done soon, but maybe by Sunday :)

No rush my friend :) . Include blue into it since its the beach and maybe the color of sand? Incorporate a car or a part of a car and a beach somehow? Anything is fine really thanks again !

Thanks so much man! I was wondering if there was a way to keep the "Beach Detailing" box with the beach background and only keep that part. And then instead of it being a rectangle make it a square by putting "detailing" under "beach"?

Sure, so you want Beach Detailing, centered with Beach over Detailing, but keep the beach image background and extend the frame to a square and not a rectangle? Did you still want the blue brushed aluminum circle border behind it? I'm at work but when I get home I'll make the changes, I just need to know exactly what you want me to fix :)

Hey im just starting up a gardening business and had few easy questions.

Do you think its necessary to have a website?

How are you receiving payment? Before or after service?

My main concern is that my first time customers may not pay. I really dont trust too many people, escpecially people off classifieds online.

Changed the words to stack in the center, and widened the frame to fit. I also made the background transparent. Dimensions are 900 x 900 so you can rescale as you see fit. Let me know if you need further adjustments.

I'm not in the same field but I would definitely recommend a website. It will help you stand out above the other local gardeners that offer services, and it will make you seem a lot bigger than you are now. By that I mean that people who visit your website will quickly be under the impression that this is a business ran by numerous people, it's reputable, and it means to get shit done. Advertise on a Facebook page specifically for your business, make an instagram so people can see your work directly on your website if they don't have a Facebook, and start marketing yourself (or website in this case) online!

People may not recognize you, your logo, or your business, but they WILL recognize the Facebook logo, and will quickly jump from your main page to your Facebook page if they want to know more, or see what other REAL people are saying about your services.

You can even use Classifieds and redirect any bites to your website. This will give you much more credibility behind whatever you're charging your customers, and it will ease their minds when they trust you with their garden.

I dont want the blue blackground just something simple like the beach detailing. It could be a rectangle or square just whatever you think will look better in the header of my website. Sorry if i wasted your time creating the other stuff i was just looking for something simple. I might use the original logo you gave me on flyers and stuff but for the website i want something simple. Thanks!

Matters what kind of business model you want to have. I do credit cards only and online booking only. My USP is my convenient online booking and a good looking website so for me a website is crucial. Any service business needs a website with you telephone number at least.

I am using stripe and when people book online i dont charge their card until the day of the actual detailing.

Collecting money is easy when i only do credit cards and it has to be paid when booking online. I guess you can collect money before you do the gardening if you are using flat rate pricing. If you are doing per hour pricing get and contract (use a template online or create one) and make the customer sign it before hand saying they are responsible for paying the money or something like that. This does two things. It makes the customer know you are a legit business and it scares them off from not paying. And it works as a contract.

UPDATE:

Site is now live. I just started up adwords and got 2 clicks and 50 impressions with a 3.5% ctr. Pretty good start in my opinion.

I am going to be changing logo too.

I still need to start utilizing and working on social media.

I will soon add another google adwords campaign using modified broad matches.

I am busy the whole day tomorrow due to life and will continue with this on friday! I am going to keep adwords running but wont get much time for other stuff tomorrow.

Cant wait for the first booking!

Also does anyone know how to narrow the range of the pricing tables under "pricing". They are html tables but in my opinion they are too wide and i want to put a stock picture on top of them also. I use comparison ninja.

Here the the html code for one of the tables

<div id="compareNinjaTable_68654">
<img src="http://compareninja.com/public/images/loader_small.gif" style="display: block; width: 18px; margin: 50px auto 0;" />
<p style="display: none;">Created with Compare Ninja</p>
</div>

EDIT:

Found out how now i just need to find out how to center them and put a stock picture above them.

EDIT 2: Nvm found out how to center too. Now i just need to figure out how to add images on top.

Edit3: I found out how to do it. I need to stop thinking out loud lol.

Let me know how this works.
Also can you send me the background image in the biggest pixel size you have and what is the font ?

I am so sorry for all the requests but i have 1 more. If you can change the font of the "Beach Detailing" in the picture to match the font on my website "arimo" if thats not availible "roboto" is fine. If you dont have time dont worry about it.

I feel bad asking for so much im sorry if there is anything you want me to do.

Make the logo bigger. It looks too small and not aligned with the rest of the top bar menu. Good luck!

I can't tell you the font ;), but I can change it to either of those your requested. I'll get you a copy of that beach background too.
