Hi Guys

About a year ago i had an ebook created, with the intentions of selling it on clickbank etc....

However i no longer have time to spend working on this project. As part of my new years resolutions im focusing on just 1 or 2 areas and this project is not going to see the light of day....certainly not in 2013.

It seems therefore an absolute waste to let it sit on my desktop, especially after the amount of time, energy and money which went into researching and creating it.

It is on the topic of "How to get a pay raise" and is about 120 pages.

The book cost me $1000 (i had previously thought it was $500) to have ghost written last year and is to a very good standard. It contains the best content i have seen in this area and is the culimination of the best content taken from the best ebooks and over 20 phsycical paperback books.

I paid a ghostwriter 4 installments of $250 to complete the ebook.

The book could easily be turned into a home study course or multimedia course.

I had considered selling it on flippa, but it seems to cater for websites rather than ebooks which do not have a website and sales page done up.

I was thinking therefore that perhaps one of the members here on TMF would be interested in purchasing the ebook rights from me so they can promote it and sell it themselves in whatever format they wish.

As part of the deal, I would include the following:

  • Complete and exclusive rights to the ebook and its content. You would be the full owner.
  • A logo created for the product which i had outsourced
  • The domain names payrisesecrets.com and howtogetapayraise.com
  • A second bonus document consisting of scripted pay raise request letters
  • All my keyword research on the topic
  • Full mindmaps containing all topics in the book
  • My plans for promotion, bonus ideas etc... (basically everything ive done up to this point)
  • You also get all the content needed for the sales letter.....this includes bullet points, features, benefits, headlines ideas etc...

Let me know if you are interested and we can work out a price. Im VERY negotiable on this.

Im not in a position whereby im trying to make money off this....im more concerned with freeing up my time and tying up lose ends regarding ongoing projects i have.

This is a great product in a great niche which is ready to be promoted and sold.

Im 100% positive that it will become a nice little money earner for someone here. :)

Cheers
Brian

PS. I will also provide the buyer with the details of the ghostwriter along with the invoices paid to the ghostwriter.

PPS. First decent offer grabs this on the spot.

Can I read it the book first? If so, you have my email address. (Yes, I'm interested as I own a publishing company.)

Can I read it the book first?

I passed on this, not because of the quality of the material, but because of the general subject matter. I would struggle to sell a product relating to jobs, pay raises, and employment. How do I know? As I was reading the work, I experienced severe anxiety. That indicator made my decision a no-brainer.

That said, this is NOT to impugn the work (or the writing) ... I'm sure with the right person behind it, some $ can be made. It could make a great passive income stream as well, and perhaps, a great giveaway for a blogger/author who specializes in this space.

Someone who isn't as "mental" as me when it comes to entrepreneurship can probably do well with it.

Thanks Brian for the offer!! :)

Yes, releasing a book like this would be a weird thing for you to do. If you published it anyway, you might as well continue the series with titles like "Live more: Getting your boss to close at 4:45pm!", "Tolerate and think positive: How to go along with your most irritating colleagues" and "Save up and retire at 60!"

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your kind words and also your offers.

I've now received several offers from members of this forum and am currently evaluating the various proposals.

There are a few creative offers on the table, so I'm going to give them some thought!

I will be making a decision this week though, so if anyone else wants to throw their hat into the ring and make me an offer I will consider them also.

Many thanks
Brian

Brian,

Is there any chance you might be willing to share a bit about the ghostwriting process? It looks like there are all sorts of places you can have stuff ghostwritten... from ODesk, to Craigslist, to companies that specialize in writing Ebooks. How did you decide on who to go with and how did you manage the quality of the material written? Thanks.

Hi Aliston,

Ive used Odesk, Elance.com and Guru.com in the past, as i found these to be the best in my opinion.

In a nutshell this is the process i worked through when using outsourcers for writing......

(1) I posted my job on the site, taking into consideration the content of similar jobs which i felt had been worded well and received a good response from bidders

(2) I then used the websites filtering search options to select only the best people in this particular field. Usually the sites will allow you to select only bidders who meet certain criteria. Once i had done this i contacted all of the remaining people via private message and asked them to bid for my job.

(3) Once i received bids/replies i immediately started to ask them for previous work and examples of this.

(4) I then review these and place the results in a table along with notes so i can easily ascertain who is best etc.

(5) Once i select a bidder I create a very clear timescale of completion and milestones.

(6) I provide the bidder with a very detailed framework showing the chapter titles and content i want in each chapter. This is usually created by reviewing every book/ebook and article i can on the topic. Im pretty sure that I could have paid someone else to research this, however I just felt more comfortable doing this myself. From memory I purchased about 15 books off Amazon which I read cover to cover before completing this framework. Its not cheap and its pretty time intensive, however its all to do with how you feel about creating a product with the best content possible.

(7) I ask that the bidder send me small portions of the ebook as he/she completes them so i can review and approve these one at a time. This allows me to ensure that they are staying on track and that the quality is consistently good throughout. The nature of the outsourcing sites such as Odesk etc allow you to pay workers as they hit milestones, so this allows you to create timescales and completion dates to keep things on track.

(8) I also state clearly at the outset that if the job is not completed 100% to my satisfaction then I will require a 100% refund of any money paid. I also try and ensure the larger portion of payment instalments are made to the worker AFTER completion of the ebook. This prevents me from receiving 75% of a book and then for example the worker not doing any more work on it or worse still going missing. It also gives them an incentive to give me a completed product within the timescale.

(9) I also ask that the worker supplies me with his/her contact details (skype, msn, personal email, phone number) so I always have a method of contacting them, even outside the outsourcing website.

That’s all I can think of for now…if I remember anything else I will add to this!

Hope this helps
Brian
