I don't like this new years, arbitrary number BS. Really? You are going to wait until a number changes on a calendar to make some improvement on your life?

I am sorry, but people who think this way will probably never achieve their goals and will no doubt break their little resolutions.

If you know of an improvement on your life but want to wait until some special date to start, you are only fooling yourself.

Not calling you out sean, just how I feel.

Kak,

Always find enjoyment reading your responses and was actually going to friend request you this morning. I feel the same exact way (for the most part). A new year shouldn't be required to get things moving, but i believe it does help lay out a makeshift plan. I know, for me personally, that during 2013 I have listed several things I'd like to accomplish with my business. However, I laugh at the people who say "Starting January 1st I'm going to start my diet, exercise daily, start a business, make friends, etc" hahaha

I want to get my product into at least one new retail location every week. As the year progresses I will get sales help to bump that number to five new locations every week.

That seems like a great goal. May be quite difficult though. Would you mind sharing your product?

C'mon Sean, you just can't start a thread like this and not provide yours first!

Not calling you out sean
But you just did anyway! (and I agree with your for the most part)

And it also affects your business from a tax-planning perspective. You can buy equipment with some deductions, you can invest in certain things and not in others, etc, etc, etc.

sell more!!!
How much more?
How are you gonna get there?
How are you gonna get those new clients, or get your repeated clients to buy more?
Are you going to track your progress by day, week, month, quarter? Compare to the same period from 2012 and other previous years?

Wow, this is a very aggressive goal!
How are you going to find these new stores and get them to agree to take your product?

Would it make sense to work with just a few retailers and see how to increase volume?

Hahah I'm sorry I'm sorry! I'm aiming to double last years gross revenues for my landscaping business and then sell it off for a respectable sum. I also have a new product in the works for gym-goers. Hoping to have a prosperous 2013 and meet a lot of like-minded people along the way.

I'm a babe in the woods as far as working with retailers, so I'm not sure what an aggressive target is. Maybe I've got an advantage not knowing this is hard!

I've spoken with three distributors and two retail locations about my product, and they really dig it. There's nothing like it out there. It's easy to copy, so NDA's and provisional patents are the order of the day. I'm sourcing labeling with my logo with the ™, also stating "Pat. Pend." to snuff any legitimate copycats and want to get that in place before I start selling.

My manufacturer has offered to give me a database of retail locations to help me out. The more I sell, the more he makes. Everyone's happy!

Save up enough cash to setup a 500 to 1000 sqft office in New Delhi next year to further expand my web design & mobile apps business. Will be hiring my first employees too!

* save up 25K by the end of this year (this is new money I made this year) I want to hit this sooner though!

* get a place up, and people renting it by end of March, 2013.

* become/maintain 115-125 lbs. (bmi of 18-19) Whatever I look best at.

* get my college degree nearly done... going to keep chipping at this until it's over with. Needs to be done by August, 2014 at the latest. (and I realize this doesn't make me rich, but it will make me happier... and then I'll feel like I'm free)

* have a fastlane project (like my book) that will be done by August 2014.

that's all I have for this year, and nothing is really set in stone. It's just a mental map. Last year goal was just progress lol.

I want to have more savings for investment! Sell more and earn more!

Since I already started our mini business last January as a test, I am now in the process of getting more raw materials, make stocks and sell them out through online marketing.

Learn, have fun, move forward daily. Golf in the 70s more.

A $100k profit month again. Been a while. Going to be much sweeter now that I'm an owner.

Develop a stronger will power!
Cool but vague.

Strong will power for what?

There must be a specific reason why you say this.

Everybody has will power. Problem is, what are you using it for?

I am interested on this topic...

* Owner finance (lease option, master lease, land contract, multiple mortgage, sub to[a little afraid of sub to still]) 20 homes and lease option them out for an average of $200 above monthly financing
* Wholesale 20 homes for an average of $3000 per
* Participate in or shadow someone who does rehab's. I'm hoping I can offer someone my time and sweat in return for watching the process
* Develop good relationships with REI players in my area

To Do This I Need To:
* Contact 40 FSBO & Rental Owners per week
* Attend REI club meetings and network, become familiar with the rehabers in town and become a familiar face for them
* Create systems that streamline my efforts and ensure I don't waste time on things that don't work
* Start, test and maintain a targeted, effective marketing campaign
* Don't Waste Time!!!

Wow, pretty aggressive!

How many owner finance/lease option houses have you done so far?

How many have you wholesale until now?

I've done 3 owner finance. One a couple of months ago and two in the past three weeks. I'm signing the paperwork for a *fourth one tomorrow (unless it somehow falls through, which seems to happen about 1/2 the time with me for some reason).
I haven't done any wholesaling and just started to learn about the process a few weeks ago. I decided to add it in because I had come across a few deals when calling people who were willing to sell low, but only for a cash out. I felt like I was wasting money there and needed to figure a way to profit from those deals rather than just say, "Sorry, I don't do that."
I may be being overly ambitious with the wholeselling since I haven't done it yet. But, better to aim high and just miss than aim low and hit.

By the end of 2013 I will:

  • Have a net worth of at least $1M
  • Sell the condo, and be in a new home that has room for a home office
  • Replace my wife's and my cars with late-model (though not necessarily brand new) luxury vehicles
  • Enjoy a liesurely road trip cross-country to introduce my wife & son to extended family along the way.
  • Be moved into an office suite for myself and my partner
  • Have acquired my first manufacturing business

I hope to also attain a very basic grasp on at least one foreign language, and find time to get back into practicing my guitar.

Hahahaha. The first time I read that I thought you meant to replace your wife as well as your car! Cracked me up!

Probably the reason is that you are giving them too much time to overthink it and then they talk to somebody who tells them the deal sucks, blah blah blah... At least that's what was happening to me years ago when I tried this.

Have a net worth of at least $1M
Cool goal!

Mind sharing your high-level plan to get there? (i.e. do you own a business making $150K a year and by doubling profits would it be worth $1M in net worth? things like that...)

You mean your commission will be $500K? (euro or dollars, by the way?) How does your commission work? 10% of net annual lease? something like that?

I have simple goals. Get accepted to an accounting/finance program in uni, and operate a business that spits out enough cash so that I don't need a traditional job throughout uni.

I only live on 50% of my income right now, so it builds up fast enough and within the year I'll reach the goal.

At this point I don't mind 'buying a job'.
