Whats up guys. I see some people on here just making serious money by doing things such as bootstrapping. Other people sell products, and I am assuming some people make money off of ads.

Now, When I kind of half think this process out, I think "Man, there seems to be so many people making money without even doing a 9-5.....I've got to do the same", see...the line of Easy To Execute/How To Execute, is blurred to me. I think about all of you guys doing it and how you're making more money than me even when I'm at a dedicated job, but then when I really think into the details my mind blanks. As if I can only see the blurred line with good emotions, but when I envision carrying out what I could do... I blank.

Now another thought that popped into my head was "Am I becoming impatient? Am I thinking this way because my site is not launching fast enough so I am assuming there is an easier faster way to make money?"

No, I just want to make money faster FOR the website. Comprende?

So, what do some of you guys do to make money either on the side, or at home EXCLUDING an actual job, or your fastlane business.

And no this is not a thread asking how to make money, but the curiosity as to how some of you do it.

Execution being the blurry part just means you don't know how to execute. You haven't put in the hard work. You've put in the time to build your website, but you haven't learned how to drive and convert traffic. If it were easy everyone would be doing it. That's good news for you, as long as you're willing to keep hammering away at it with dedication and consistency.

After some time (I can't tell you how long), you will have tried many, many different things to drive and convert traffic. Some will succeed, some not so much. But you'll start to learn what works and what doesn't work. Your failures will teach you specific questions to ask others who have BTDT, which will build up your knowledge base. As you learn more your successes will happen more frequently, your failures less frequently. That will be good timing too, because by then your website will be well seasoned and established.

You need to learn the blurry part for yourself - nobody gets it for free.

FWIW, I'm learning the execution part too. I speak from experience.

Same as becoming great at just about anything.

Want to be in the Olympics practice EVERY day. Day in and day out for years.

Want to be a GREAT guitar player? Practice EVERY day. Day in and day out for YEARS!

Champions are made by doing what others wont.

The win goes to the guy who still works/works out ESPECIALLY when they don't want to.

You've got me confused as to what you're asking! I think you're asking what those of us starting up do for funds or what those who already reached success did? I worked for a while to gain experience and saved up so I have about a year's income to live off of while I start up. But... what you do on the side really shouldn't matter, because your business should be making money pretty quickly... SO:

Now, When I kind of half think this process out, I think "Man, there seems to be so many people making money without even doing a 9-5.....I've got to do the same", see...the line of Easy To Execute/How To Execute, is blurred to me. Since I'm looking at your post and seeing the majority of it was about making money fast, I'm surprised the question at the end wasn't directed at that! When you say the line of execution is blurred, it has me thinking that your more focused on the end goal than on the task at hand itself. If you're asking "how do I make more money faster!?" you're asking the wrong question! What you should be asking yourself is what more can I provide through my site or service to the user. The more you provide, the more you get back. What you get back is just the end result which is directly a result of how well you executed.

Goodluck!

I know exactly how you feel. Why? Because we're close in age.

Very few people at the age of 20 have ever 'done' anything before. We're not used to 'doing' anything. We don't really have much discipline because we've never been put in situations that require large amounts of it.

Currently, I make money on the side doing Fiverr gigs (the money ain't amazing but it's still money). I'm also learning affiliate marketing not just for the money but for learning how to sell as well as learning money discipline (whoever says there is nothing to learn from affiliate marketing obviously has not read TMF or has any idea what affiliate marketing really is). I'm learning how to write sales letters to send to my future customers AND I'm learning how to handle every dime I spend.

I've been trying to offer my website and copywriting services but no luck.

Persistence is key. That's one of the reasons why I don't advise anyone quit their job until they are supporting themselves with their venture. At the same time, quitting your job can often force persistence to the point where you are working 10, 12, 16 hours a day on getting closer to your goal.

I made partnerships to various vendors on a needed expense to everyone and make them fight for the customers business. I sell savings (basically I sell money).

Now another thought that popped into my head was "Am I becoming impatient? Am I thinking this way because my site is not launching fast enough so I am assuming there is an easier faster way to make money?"

A couple things About being too impatient:

- During college I needed money. I didn't have time to be patient. I set up a website in a night and mde about 5k in pre-sales before I even wrote my Ebook. I started on a Tuesday and had the money in my account by that Friday.

That's great right? no. I rushed it. The product was great but I left a ton of money on the table.

- that spring I decided to stop selling my Ebook. Again I wanted to make a quick buck. Decided that it was time to convert my on the fence customers with a 24 hour final sale event. Promoted for 1 week. Made thousands the hour before i pulled the product off the market and pulled the site down.

great right? No. Again I killed my brand and left money in the table.

- Now I'm really trying to build something of value. I see multi million dollar potential in my vision for the product. Impatience is one of my biggest personal barriers to success.

If you want to make millions and billions then you must be patient. There of course are exceptions to that statement. Don't always use money to measure success. My numbers were decent but in reality I left way too much on the table for a thousand dollar business.

Just out of curiosity, what was the ebook about and what methods did you use to get traffic/sales?

It was about a casin0 game. Sold it for 315 per copy. To be honest, I had no clue what I was doing the whole time. It just kind of worked. Basically used forums, a crappy site, high pressure sales, emails, and word of mouth. No ppc, no social media, and the site was anti Seo haha.

I'll explain in more detail some other time. I'm at work and on a ipad right now

A pretty good quote from Think and Grow Rich:

Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark, disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of REACHING DECISIONS PROMPTLY, and of changing these decisions SLOWLY, if, and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decisions, IF AT ALL, very slowly, and of changing these decisions quickly and often.

Even though I already understand some of these concepts like if it's easy, then everyone would do it, and that this is good news for you, it's always nice to read again and again to remind myself to keep pushing!

Working on stuff you don't want to. Working on it when you don't want to. Being uncomfortable when it's inconvenient. Not blowing the fruits of those long nights of labor.

I don't want to speak for others, but Tommy I think guys like us in our early to mid twenties are part of a generation of instant gratification, we want results and we want them fast. We think that what we put in the fastlane oven should come out with cookies in 30 minutes, well it just doesn't work that way, everyone can bake cookies..... I think it's more like planting seeds and growing your "money tree," you need to WAIT a hella long time......

Even though I know that I need to focus on process rather than events, I always think about events naturally bc Im part of this technological-video-game-smart-phone-instant-information generation, I think about what exotic cars Im gonna buy what cities Im going to vacation in later when Im in the fastlane after I do ONE DAY of WORK on my projects......and I think younger entrepreneurs have this "condition," but it could be a pro too not just a con, use it to push you, actually now I really use anything and everything to push me to work harder, if my uncle from out of town ask me what Im doing with my life, I use that to push me, if I see people waiting at a bus stop, I use that.....

So I guess my main point is that I understand the instant gratification mindset of our young generation, we want to see RESULTS, NOW, I mean STAT!!!!! lol, and I get the advices from others like JohnP to "be patient" and to "work hard" from others to help with that mindset problem, and I want to add that indeed you need to be patient and work hard and use whatever you can to push you....but think of it as an exponential graph rather than a linear graph to help you to get to that patient mindset....

linear-vs-exponential-growth.jpg

Some of other things you can do to help with this instant result mindset problem is you can track your hours for time management and MOTIVATION tool, think of it as these hours will get me to the money, so in a way this is MONEY since time is money, and these hours you track is your money, so this is your results, and I treat it as my instant gratification. You never know how or when these hours will make you money, you can guess, but you won't know for sure, it's like in TMF , MJ talks about how a lot of businesses including his started out doing one thing, but ended up doing another thing. Or how App Empire book mentioned people who were late to the internet boom didn't make lots of money, but the hours they put in to learn programming, web design, etc can help them make a killing when the app boom started in 2009-present.

So here is how I get my instant gratification fix....

atimelogger, a free app

Level me up, I bought this version, but there is a free version apps with limited 3 categories and ads

Basically what Im trying to say is, I see issues and I see solutions in this thread, and Im trying to contribute methods on bridging the gap with tools to help get to the solution, hope that helps, anyone have other tips to train your mind to be more patient and know that your hard work will pay off? I think reading biographies/success stories or watching inspirational movies like the pursuit of happyness help too, just don't spend too much time on them like I do haha

Best,

Not my quote FYI ^

Just a thought, did they interview the people who make the wrong decision and dont change that decision promptly? Part of being successful is realizing when it is time to bail on something that is not working, no matter how passionate about something you may be

Kevin O'Leary had an interesting bit on why you shouldn't invest your own money in a project. When you have investors, they're the ones with the money on the line and they know when to pull the plug on you. If you have undying faith in yourself and your ideas or execution, then you don't have a realistic depiction of how things will turn out.

I finally got my family to be honest with me when I ask for their opinion. I encourage them to be as truthfully ruthless in their review of my work, because it either gets me to bail out and move on or I come back the next day with all of their valid issues addressed.

Thinslicer -

I was 22 when I did that. I'm 25 now, just turned 25 today. That advice is coming from a young person haha. But I do agree 100 percent with the instan gratification thing. Great point.

Also Being patient does not mean moving slow. There is a huge difference.

Agree agree, you should be IMPATIENT in a way in terms of being EAGER and wanting to work hard in the FASTlane, so lots of hard work in a FAST system, but you...

should NOT be IMPATIENT in terms of being annoyed that it's taking forever, and then give up because you don't see immediate results

What an awesome point! Yeah, I agree. Oh look what you've discovered, YET ANOTHER BLURRY LINE!

Sometimes you cannot tell what is in/out of your control (In terms of time that is), and you aren't sure if you should sit back and let the world/universe/whatever, do the work, or if you could influence it!
