Does anyone have experience or know someone that has successfully flipped retail / brick and mortar businesses?
Flipping real estate is mainstream ...but you don't hear too much about flipping businesses..(.with the exception of mitt Romney who flipped large scale businesses! During his time at Bain capital and he still makes millions from Bain
Is he the ultimate fastlaner ? )
I have thought of purchasing an existing business at a discount and aggressively marketing to increase sales.
Then aggressively marketing the business for sale .
The only thing I could think of would be that you might have to hold the business for at least a year as potential buyers might want to see a year of revenue at the "new levels "
Trying to think of the best type of businesses to do this with .
Don't think you can "flip" a business without at least a year of owning it - not enough history of revenue improvement otherwise. The problem with selling a single retail business is the very limited market of buyers, most of whom will have known about the business for sale the first time around. Why would they pay the premium for you to improve the bottom line when they will naturally assume they can do the same thing...
