How to find a reputable clothing manufacturer?

I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction

We have some patterns & designs drawn up for some niche-specific clothing and related fabric items, but I have no idea how to go about finding and contacting a *reputable and reliable* manufacturer to create them? We've tried finding places here in NZ that can do so, but it seems it's pretty much all done offshore - which leaves me stumped at how to proceed.

I'd really appreciate any advice, hints, or pointers in the right direction.. please

I cannot speak to the credibility of any specific company; however, this should get you a list of potential manufacturers, for your product type. Perhaps, then poke around on the internet to find reviews/feedback specific to a given company.

If you've got designs, you can try a site like Custom T-Shirts and Apparel | Personalized Onesies | Personalized Baby Clothes (not sure if they ship to your area and if they have your type of clothing). You can get your pattern printed and see how it sells. Then when you know you've got a hot item you have some numbers to approach a manufacturer with and cut your production costs.

You can find reputable and reliable company in big social sites that allow user to build their business comapny like LinkIn. And you can also search companies with high reputation in local listing sites.

Are you doing 'fashion' type t-shirts?

if so, and if you haven't already, trying looking into Alstyle. probably one of the best manufacturers out there, many clothing lines use them (big name companies).

I just launched my clothing company/Clothing Line and I ordered an Alstyle sample (1301 to be exact) and the shirt is very good quality, it's light but durable. I'm definitely going to be using them.

hope this helps, and hopefully they can ship to NZ.

*sidenote - be aware though, that some styles, they run out of fairly quickly due to high demand*

Hey Inphinity!

*reputable and reliable* are definitely the right words! I went to Vietnam in August with the sole purpose of finding a clothing manufacture, the number of tailors they have over there is crazy (I'm sure you have heard of the overnight $150 suits etc etc from SE Asia...)

I think you will be alright as you say you have plans - so if they follow that every item they make an item it will be identical. Just make sure the fabric is what they say it is. Is 100% silk really silk, or is it polyester?

If I was in your position I would use Alibaba (I can hear the haters already) and send a design to 3 or 4 to make and see what the quality is like. Just be SPECIFIC as F#CK when giving them directions and assume nothing. They will do anything to make their job easier.

Will have to have a chat on MSN or Skype sometime.
