This is kind of a cool technique I want to share with you on the forum. Its not really a book recommendation, but a way to read a book in the shortes amount of time. I see a lot of threads where people are reading up to update or add to their skillset, so I hope you like it!
How to read a book in about an hour:
1. Get your iPhone to Appstore, search for the norwegian app named "Hurtigleser", which is Fastreader or something in english, download it.
2. Get a copy of your book in PDF and copy all the text out to a TXT file. Put it in Dropbox or email it to your phone.
3. Open the file or email on the iphone and copy all the text.
4. Go into the app "Hurtigleser" and click on the big green button "LES NÅ" (Read Now), click on "Lim inn tekst", and paste the text in there.
5. Click on the little button "Les" which starts the reading, click on the text to adjust the speed of the words. And click on the screen to get started again.
It will show you one word on the screen, and change it according to the speed you set. So just stare at the spot where the text are and you will read faster than you ever have before! Start out at around 300 words/minute, then slowly put your speed up.
I am at 500 words per minute, and one of the books I read now is a 144 page book, with 41600 words, which will take me about 83 minutes to finish(I want to reach their limit of 1000 words a minute, but I cant get the content in with that speed yet.)
The app was intended to be used by students to freshen up their memory of books they have to know before tests, it works really well. If you want to go crazy about it watch this video from Rich Schefren : A Peek Into My Reading Process - YouTube he is taking it way out and uses a different app, which didn't appeal to me.
I really hope you enjoy this as much as I am, this really gets you into speedreading, which saves time and get your focus in one place, because you dont have a second off because you will miss a lot of text.

This looks pretty awesome! 1000 words per minute would be crazy!
1000 on my app is a blur, i guess if i get really fast i will have to do something like in the video.

I use the speed-reading method for stories and novels. I'm at about 1100 WPM.
But the way I do it involves visualizing the context of the words instead of vocalizing the words themselves. I have trouble doing it with educational stuff. Any other methods?
Cool, need to check this app out. Thanks for the tip.

I use it only for educational stuff. But I found that sometimes I need a slower speed to get the meaning of what I am learning.
It works great to take a notepad and write a summary after 5% or 10% read. The info sticks better also, and you get a short version of the book that you can put into the reader again.
