  1. Fastlane Competition - April update

    by , May 1st, 2013 at 09:11 AM
With summer quickly approaching I'm putting focus back on Weather Oasis. I placed my first MOQ order and expect it to ship mid May. I should have it mid June. I got my own custom labels for the cooling towels complete with a unique UPC, so I should be able to go straight onto Amazon as well as eBay.

My stock has diminished to the point I need to slow sales down. I sure managed that! I raised the price by almost double and haven't had a sale in two weeks. While that doesn't bode ...

  2. Fastlane Competition - March update

    by , Apr 1st, 2013 at 10:05 AM
    SALES
Sales have improved, but not where I want it to be, and not because I've put in enough effort. I STILL need to pound the pavement - that's where I'm falling down on the job.

Cooling towel sales are really picking up a lot now - I'm about to finish off my existing inventory, so it's time to replenish. That's been the major focus of March.

    SUPPLIERS
I've been working closely with my towel supplier to get prices down. I have a lot of leeway when placing ...

  3. Fastlane Competition - February update

    by , Mar 1st, 2013 at 08:37 AM
    SALES
Sales have been very slow. The LA retailer has sold only a few units. His clientel doesn't have a lot of disposable income, so I think the prices are keeping sales down.

I've got a local retailer I've been trying to see. The decision maker has been out of town on vacation, but will soon be back.

I need to improve my sales efforts.

    SUPPLIERS
I found an overseas supplier for one of the parts that is nearly 1/10th the price of my local supplier. ...

  4. Fastlane Competition - January update

    by , Jan 29th, 2013 at 08:56 AM
    January was a great month!

    SALES
I sold my first order to a retailer in Los Angeles who has been looking forward to this for months. Along with that is placing my first larg(ish) order with my domestic manufacturer, who up 'till now was probably skeptical that I'd ever order anything but onesies twosies.

I took the day off on Friday, drove up to Ontario to pick up my parts and then on to LA to deliver them. Usually I would do this from the comfort of my home using ...

  5. Fastlane Competition - December update

    by , Jan 3rd, 2013 at 10:25 AM
December saw the arrival of my prototypes and their subsequent testing. These are really nice – much better than the cobbled together hack job I’d put together! The parts have a finished look, fit and function is great.

There are some changes I need to make to one piece and I’m working with my manufacturer to redo that. I can either have this piece completely re-tooled or get an adapter piece for one of my existing pieces. For now, I think I’ll use the adapter, but if sales justify ...
