So I'm reading the autobiography of Steve Jobs.

Something that hit me was this: If I ever run into someone with an exceptional talent to create things whether it be art, software, hardware...etc I should become good friends with that person.

Why?

Well, here's the example I have from Jobs' bio...

Steve Wozniak was Jobs' best friend. He was a brilliant hardware engineer and he's the one who created the Apple I and the Apple II.

Paired with Jobs' vision and business mind they were able to build the wealthiest company on the planet.

I realized that I don't necessarily have to build it myself. I can recruit free engineers. Anyone who doesn't have an entrepreneurial mindset who can be the core of the creative process, while I can drive the company and build a concept around these creations.

Obviously I'd be trying to come up with ideas for products that will fill a vital need or purpose in the world and can be sold in both high quantity and magnitude.

So, a source of expertise may not always have to be yourself. It can be left to someone with exceptional skill and talent who is willing to work with you for free.

I once knew a kid in highschool who was an exceptional programmer. Had I sidestepped his strangeness and became friends with him I'd have befriended an incredible asset as well.
